VLOG 103 POLARIZATION | PT.2: LOVE, BELONGING, & THE ROOTS OF DIVISION
The second part of the series on polarization is an exploration of why our divisions run deeper than politics or party lines. Drawing on voices like Charles Taylor, Jon Paul Lederach, Henri Nouwen, and Kalistos Ware, I consider how our tribal impulses, desire to belong, and embodied presence make “perfect conformity” and even neutrality impossible. This is a reflection on what it means to live as human beings who are both receptive and confrontational — always in relation to others, yet always distinct. If love is the ground of all reality, what does that mean for how we face injustice and broken relationships in our society today?
